Senior Analyst, Business Analytics
I am currently working as a Senior Analyst, Business Analytics for the Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation department of CIBC.
Analyst
I worked as an Analyst at Larway Transportation, where I applied analytics to improve different business processes and grow sales for the company.
- Built and managed the entire data analytics pipeline of Larway.
- Implemented a live Python script to automatically file email advertisements received by Larway. The script minimizes the need to read and manually file email advertisements, thereby saving the operations and sales teams approximately 6 hours per week (sufficient time in the transportation industry to secure lots of revenue-generating orders). A trained machine learning model was included in the script to recognize and classify incoming emails before the email advertisements are filed.
- Created a list of partner transportation companies from the database of Larway’s Transportation Management System software (software that helps the operations team to book orders, dispatch trucks, etc.). The list was compiled by combining data from different database tables and was used to send email advertisements to Larway’s partner transportation companies. Since it was implemented (i.e., since February 2020), it helped Larway secure numerous revenue-generating orders.
- Implemented a live Python script to extract and display key information from incoming email advertisements in geographic maps in Tableau. The maps represent the availability of freight and trucks across the provinces of Canada and states of United States. The operations and sales teams use the map for planning purposes.
- Created a database of pricing information from the database of Larway’s Transportation Management System software and external market intelligence sources. This database will be used to create standardized pricing strategies to price shipments profitably.
- Consulted as a machine learning subject matter expert to teams which work on projects outsourced by the company.
- Trained colleagues to use new software in the company.
- Initially hired as a contractual employee. Awarded permanent position later due to exemplary performance.

Masters Student
- Worked on an outsourced project for McCormick Canada (a spice manufacturing company in London, Ontario), as part of a research team of Prof. Dr. Abdallah Shami.
- Preprocessed IoT datasets in Microsoft Excel to prepare them for modeling.
- Developed machine learning pipelines to train different machine learning models in R to optimize the performance of an industrial process of McCormick.
- Regularly presented our findings to McCormick employees, on behalf of our team.

Research Assistant
- Initially, I worked at Fraunhofer MEVIS (one of the research institutes under the umbrella of Fraunhofer Gesellschaft) doing research in the field of medical technology. My research involved processing image data and developing novel algorithms to model temperature changes inside human body upon insertion of medical needle.
- Next, I worked at Fraunhofer IIS doing research in the field of audio technology. My research involved processing audio data and improving an audio codec at the algorithmic level.
